Default 16 ibt program on 32 bit windows problem Fix

Error while installing HVACPRO with LANDesk Disabled

When you click on HVACPRO

This error will pop up

c:\Program~1\Symantec\S32EVNT1.DLL. An installable Virtual Driver failed Dll initializaition.
Chose Closeto terminate the application.

If you click Close, every time you click HVACPRO you will get the above Error pop up

If you click Terminate HVACPRO will start-up properly until next reboot and same issue.

I had to research with Google to find the fix.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the following registry value is corrupted:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\VirtualDeviceDrivers\VDD

This behavior can occur after you install a 16-bit program or a program that uses a 16-bit installation program that is not Windows XP-compliant. This behavior can also occur if the Command.com file that is installed on your computer is damaged or is the incorrect version.

RESOLUTION

Important this section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: 322756
