Default The Google Project Glass

The Google Project Glass - the eyeglasses of supplemented reality

What is the Google Glass?
The Google inc. [х] has created the Project Glass Eyeglasses to add Supplemented Reality into your daily life. The Google Eyeglasses help you to research and discover the world of your own and then share it with your friends.

The Eyeglasses' design and technical specifications
The Supplemented Reality Glass looks smart, also they are very convenient. There is a thin metal wire around your head providing good look to the Glass. The silicone mounts from both sides of the bridge of your nose do not allow the Glass to drop on active movement.

As such, the gadget is on the right side of your eye. It features a smart clear control panel and a webcam. Also the Glass features many sensors. They are: movement, voice, exposure and location sensors. The Project Glass features earphones and the smart ability to play/stop music, switch between tracks and answer mobile phone calls. In a word, it completely takes place of Bluetooth headset.

Features and specifications of the Supplemented Reality Glass by Google
The Glass' operation system is based on the Android, but it is far away from a banal version working on your mobile phones and smartphones. This is a version of the Android OS that have been specially designed for the Google Glasses.

The Glass features a powerful new-gen CPU by Google, its main purpose is in understanding the view visible by the Project Glass gadget's user. If he is looking at the window, the device has to show the weather forecast; if he is looking at the ceiling, the gadget's reaction is to show the clocks with time and date; showing other information (news and the map of location) on demand. The intelligent abilities are extended thanks to the integrated GPS navigation system and Wi-Fi plus 3G/4G connections.

The built-in camera plays the main role. The Project Glass identifies your location (building, street and address), sees the objects around you and defines their distances. The low resolution webcam is able to recognize where you are looking to. If you are looking to a window, the gadget displays the current weather conditions on the screen, as well as the weather forecast (rain probability etc.). The webcam is able to take photo or video of the object you are looking to upon your voice command and instantly upload it to a social network, Google+ Plus, for instance.

The voice sensor is the item that unites you and the device into a single thing. All UI and software connected directly with the voice sensor. Making a voice command, you are able to create notes and reminders, or ask the system how to get there to make it show the Google Maps and show the way, direction and distance. Watching an advert, you are able to send a request to book a ticket for the concert. Identifying your location, starting/stopping the music and showing something that you see or hear to a friend of you: everything is possible…

The Supplemented Realty of Glass thanks to the Android OS
The user's interface features 14 apps:
The Calendar (shows the date and creates notes), the Microphone (dictaphone and other voice sensor functions), the Google+ social service, the Clocks, the Temperature t, the Chat, the Photocamera, the Face Recognition functions, the Glass Setup, maps by Google Maps (with abilities to discover your friends' location when they are nearby and notify you about this), the Earphones, the Google Search, the Video Chat (with Skype features), the Image and Video gallery, and Your Notes - everything is based on the Android platform.

The Supplemented Reality Google Glass price
The Project Glass is going to cost around $250-$500 (or 387,5 euros.).

Project Glass: One day.

Glass Software

Q: How often are you updating Glass’s software?
A: Our aim is to make Glass more awesome every month with new software updates. So far some of those updates have included:
  • Better battery life
  • Improved photo quality
  • Birthday notifications
  • Improved voice transcription
  • Web browsing
  • Voice annotation on photos
Q: What is Glassware?
A: Glassware is what we call the services that developers build for Glass. Just like the applications you find on your smartphone, Glassware is available to install via a person’s MyGlass page.

Q: Who are some of the Glassware partners today?
A: We have announced eight Glassware partners today. They are Path, Evernote, CNN, New York Times, Twitter, Facebook, Elle and Tumblr.

Q: How many Glassware do you expect to have by the end of the year?
A: We’re not making any predictions, but one of the goals of our Explorer program is to get the device into the hands of developers who will build cool and amazing Glassware.

Q: What are some of the Glassware that you want to see built?
A: Everyone working on the Glass team has a different dream Glassware, but some of the things that excite us are Glassware that helps people with disabilities, fitness and training and even karaoke lyrics. What's great about creating a new computing platform though, is you know developers will always surprise you with incredible things you don’t expect.

Q: Can anyone build Glassware for Glass?
A: No. We feel very strongly that in order to build Glassware for Glass, you need to own the device, play with it and truly understand it. After all, Glass is such a new experience in its own right.

Q: Where can I find your Developer Policies and will they change over time?
A: You can find our policieshere and yes, they will change over time. Part of having good, strong developer policies is to make sure that they evolve with the times.

Q: Can developers run ads on Glass?
A: No. Our Mirror API Terms of Service make it clear that you can not serve or include advertisements in the API Client.

Q: How do you prevent Glassware that violates your developer policies from making its way onto Glass and into the hands of consumers?
A: Right now there are only eight Glassware partners available in your MyGlass page. We will manually review each new Glassware before it’s added to MyGlass and made available to the wider Glass community.
